Colgan Heritage Exhibition
The Colgan Heritage Weekend 2012 runs from 29 June to 1 July. John Colgan was born near Carndonagh and he became a noted hagiographer and historian. He entered the Franciscan Order in Louvainin Belgiumin 1620 and became head of the Louvain School of History. He wrote the Acta Sanctorum Hiberniae and Triadis Thaumaturgae. Most events will take place in the Colgan Hall.
Carndonagh library will host an exhibition to celebrate John Colgan and to run in conjunction with the Heritage Weekend. The exhibition will include a copy of Acta Sanctorum Hiberniae and a copy of Conall Byrne’s book on the life of John Colgan as well as photographs on the local area.
