Europe Direct Information Centre (EDIC), Central Library, Letterkenny is the main EDIC for Donegal, one of eight such centres throughout the country. In addition, Leabharlann Phobail Ghaoth Dobhair provides a satellite Europe Direct service with information provision in the Irish language. Each centre provides a range of services, including free publications, brochures and guides; an on-the-spot question and answer service; computers with access to the EU’s Europa website ; a meeting room capable of hosting talks, promotional events etc. on European matters and free-phone access to the Europe Direct call centre in Brussels.
Since the centre’s launch in 2005 we have run a number of promotional events to highlight the Europe Direct Information Centre and to encourage debate and discussion on European issues. Events include multicultural workshops for children/young adults, exhibitions, storytelling from Europe, EU quizzes and regular class visits as well as various informative exhibitions on relevant EU themes.
