Using your library

You are never too young to join the library.

If you are under 18, you need your parent or guardian to sign the application form.

In your library, you will find a world of adventure, fantasy, humour and even horror. We have board books for babies and early readers for the pre-schoolers. We have books on sport, computers, nature and travel - not to mention all the latest bestsellers and all the well-loved classic fiction books. You will find Harry, Henry, Tracey and Matilda waiting for you on our library shelves. We have information books to help with homework or school projects, and we can provide access to online encyclopaedias and dictionaries at home or by using the computers in the library.

Can’t find the book you want? Check our library catalogue or just ask the library staff.

Looking for information for a school project? Why not access our range of online encyclopaedias or check the Askaboutireland website.

Whatever you want to know, we are here to help - so just ask.

Events and Activities

As well as access to a great range of books, we run regular events and activities for children.

These include:

  • Book clubs
  • Storytelling
  • Rhyme Time Sessions
  • Summer Reading Programmes
  • Library Tours
  • And of course our wonderful Children’s Book Festival - Wainfest

Computer and Internet Facilities

Want to use the library’s computer and Internet facilities? ..... Read on.

Under 12

You are welcome to use the computer facilities provided that:

  • A parent or guardian is with you at the time.

Over 12

You are most welcome to use the computer facilities provided that:

  • A parent or guardian gives permission in writing for your use of the computers by signing an Internet consent form in the presence of the library staff or
  • A parent or guardian is with you at the time.
