Work Matters is a nationwide library programme to support not only those seeking employment and individuals interested in training but also to provide information and resources to entrepreneurs and business start ups.

Supporting business and economic recovery is already a major part of Donegal County Councils strategic plan and as part of the council it is important that the library service plays its part in that recovery.

There are three ways in which Work Matters will contribute.

  1. Firstly by providing practical access to computer and printing resources. There are five hot desk locations in libraries across the county in Central Library Letterkenny, Buncrana Library, Twin Towns Library Stranorlar, Bundoran Library and Leabharlann Phobail Ghaoth Dobhair. These locations have access to online business information sources such as Mintel. There are smaller business and employment information sections in all libraries throughout the county.
  2. The second way in which Work Matters will contribute is by working as a referral and information point for the professional services already working with job seekers and entrepreneurs such as Donegal Local Enterprise Office, Intreo, Donegal ETB and the Citizens Information Service.
  3. And finally by providing access to staff who have expertise in the functions and roles of the partner organisations just mentioned. Librarians will also be able to give help and advice on accessing the hundreds of free online courses for learning new languages, business and computer skills.
