Read DL is back for its 9th year, and registration is now open for schools and community groups across the county to participate in 2019. This year we will be reading Mr Stink by David Williams. The registration process is aimed specifically for schools and groups, whereby they can purchase copies of the book for keeps for €2 per copy. Click here to register your school or group now. If you already have your own copies of the book at school, we would still encourage registering, but enter 0 for the number of books required.
Registration closes at 5pm on Friday 18th January 2019.
Read DL is a 'One Book, One Community' initiative aiming to bring Donegal communities together by giving them a shared experience of reading the one book for a period of time in the year. Children and their families in Donegal are encouraged to read and discuss the chosen book, along with taking part in various activities held in schools, libraries and in the community. Your local library will be stocked with copies of this year’s title "Mr Stink" by David Williams from February, or you can reserve a copy right now to be delivered to your local library for collection.
Read DL will be launched at the end of February and will run for 6 weeks until the Easter break. Dates will be announced soon. Visit www.readdonegal.com for all you need to know.
A little about this year’s Book:
Chloe, the loneliest girl in the world, makes friends with Mr Stink, the local tramp. One day, she decides to help him out when she realises he might be driven out of town. How does she do that? Well, she hides him in her shed.
She has to make sure that no one finds out her secret. And speaking of secrets, there just might be more to Mr Stink than what meets the eyes (or the nose). This hilarious and charming story is filled with love, life and surprising secrets!
